| Intensive care This course is designed to provide students in anaesthesia department with the knowledge of basic principles, theory and nursing skills needed for practising in intensive care unit. This course also provides clinical guided experience which helps the students to develop skills needed to provide safe basic nursing care in this unit. The course focuses on types and designs of intensive care unit, management of acute diseases in respiratory system, central nervous system, myopathy, chronic mechanical ventilation, neonatal intensive care unit and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A-General: On completion of this course the student will learn to follow basic steps in management of life threatening emergency conditions. B-Special : · Understand how to saving patients in emergency conditions. · Understand the most important medical instruments in different intensive care units. · Applications of the medical instruments in ICU. Describe types of health care delivery systems. · CLINICAL: -Nursing care of patients with cardiac or respiratory diseases. -Applications of instruments in intensive care units. -Administrations of drugs in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. -Provision of first aid during emergency conditions in patients with cardiac or respiratory diseases.
